The mission of Northglade Montessori Magnet School, a diverse nurturing family of students, educators and parents, is to prepare each student to become a well-educated, responsible and respectful contributor to family and community by enhancing academic achievement through a literature-rich curriculum that integrates technology, addresses individual needs (social, emotional, academic, and physical) and unique talents, in partnership with family and the community.

Celebrating a Legacy, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.!

Dr. Martin Luther King, (
January 15, 1929April 4, 1968) raised public consciousness of the Civil Rights Movement and established himself as one of the greatest orators in U.S. history. In 1964, Dr. King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to end segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other non-violent means. In Montessori education, students learn to continue the work of Dr. King by showing kindness and repsect for all people. Teachers stress peace education and global awareness and unification through daily cultural studies and grace and courtesy lessons. Students learn to embrace diversity and honor the accomplishments of those driven to promote equality and peace.

Book Nook Is Back!

On Fridays, students and parents have the opportunity to purchase inexpensive reading materials in the main corridor between 8:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Also, students may select a book and choose to write report in exchange for payment.

January’s Grace & Courtesy Focal Points:

· Show random acts of kindness toward others.
· Remove snow from boots or shoes when entering the building.
· Walk around work on rugs/mats.
· Neatly store personal items in lockers or on hooks in cubby areas.
· Sharpen pencils and discard shavings in trash. Check debris on wall and floor for needed clean up.
