‘Tis the Season to Continue to Reach Out to Others!

Many times we tend to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
Although shopping for that perfect gift for loved ones is a good thing, make time to
teach children how to show compassion for others. For example, plan on involving
your child(ren) in making holiday cards to express appreciation for others, setting
goals to learn something new about peace education, helping out a neighbor or
supporting the needs of others temporarily housed at the local mission, etc. Your
family will enjoy the gift of love while reinforcing social goals and creating
new memories this season.

December’s Grace and Courtesy Focal Points:

• Walk around people having a conversation. If needed, say, “Excuse me!”
• Stand tall with a straight back and proud shoulders when speaking.
• When speaking, use a low voice to avoid disturbing others.

Our students did an excellent job and we are so proud of their accomplishments.

Holiday Cooking is Fun and Educational!!!!
Consider involving your entire family in preparing holiday meals this season. Cooking great tasting meals is not only practical but reinforces basic and life skills in many of the following areas:

Reading: Following recipes
Chemistry: Mixing ingredients
Math: Measuring, doubling, and timing
Counting: Setting the table
Budgeting: Comparison shopping
Attention to detail: Following recipes and planning meals
Strength building: Carrying groceries
Small-muscle dexterity: Chopping, sifting, and pouring
Creativity: Meal Planning
Responsibility: Completing tasks
