Holiday Cooking is Fun and Educational!!!

Consider involving your entire family in preparing holiday meals this season. Cooking great tasting meals is not only practical but reinforces basic and life skills in many of the following areas:

· Reading: Following recipes

· Chemistry: Mixing ingredients

· Math: Measuring, doubling, and timing

· Counting: Setting the table

· Budgeting: Comparison shopping

Attention to detail: Following recipes and planning meals

· Strength building: Carrying groceries

· Small-muscle dexterity: Chopping, sifting, and pouring

· Responsibility: Completing tasks

· Creativity: Meal Planning

December’s Grace & Courtesy Focal Points:

· Sit properly in chairs with all (chair) legs resting on the floor.

· Use “Thank You” and “Please” when interacting with others.

· Help keep our bathrooms clean by reporting any problems with fixtures or floors.

We must help the child act for himself, will for himself, think for himself. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Children become like the things they love.

“The secret of good teaching is to regard the child's intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of calming imagination.”
