Friendly End-Of-The-Year Reminders for Parents and Students!!!

It’s hard to believe that the school year is coming to an end soon. We’ve enjoyed serving you and look forward to a fantastic 2005-2006 school year. Your hard work is being recognized by the entire school-family and most recently an article printed on the front page of the Kalamazoo Gazette on Sunday, May 22, 2005. We have so many success stories to share and welcome the opportunity to create more memorable moments in the learning environment next year. As we wrap up yet another successful year, please attend to the following end-of-the year reminders:

Please…

• Return all library books prior to the due date established by classroom teachers.
• Return all unwanted school pictures and include money for purchased items.
• Complete registration forms for new kindergarten students for the 2005-2006 school year.
• Return permission slips for upcoming field trips, celebrations, ceremonies, etc.
• Contact the office to update student records for summer mailings.
• Return summer school forms as soon as possible. Additional forms are available in the office.
• Drop off donated books and clothing in the Parent Room.

Are you involved Enough with Your Child at Home and School?

Research shows what parents always suspected: Children need parents to be actively involved with their lives. Are you involved enough? Here’s a quiz to find out. Give yourself five points for something you usually do, zero points for something you never do—or any score in between.
__1. I monitor what my child sees on TV and on the Internet.
__2. We have at least one meal a day together.
__3. My child is responsible for doing some household chores.
__4. I am very aware of what my child is learning in school.
__5. I attend at least three school-related activities each year.
__6. I contact my child’s teachers about their progress prior to reading report cards.
__7. We don’t have the TV on during dinner. We talk instead.

How did you score?

Above 28 means you’re a real hands-on parent. A score of 21 is average. Below 21? Try some of the ideas in the quiz to become more directly involved with your child. Contact the PTO or school office for avenues to become more involved at school.

• FAST FACTS: THIS IS A 3-YEAR REQUEST! THIS 1.5 MILL PROPERTY TAX INCREASE WILL HELP FUND THE OPERATIONS OF OUR LOCAL SCHOOLS. THE MILLAGE INCREASE WOULD COST THE OWNER OF A $50,000 HOME $3.12 A MONTH OR $6.25 A MONTH FOR A $100,000 HOME.
